Basic Cave Skills – Two Day Workshop in Co. Fermanagh
This workshop is designed for cavers with previous caving experience, or for those who have been in a few caves and are looking to develop their skills further and/or to help lead within caves in the future.

- Weather considerations
- Cave formations and their significance
- Route finding
- Surface navigation
- Spotting techniques
- Call-out procedures and information
- What to bring into a cave and group items
- Safety while caving, leader position
- Understanding flooding risks and signs
- catchment areas and planning
- hand lines, assisted lines, and traverses
- use of belts and cow-tails
- Rigging ,knots ,basics and more
Workshop Structure
Day 1:
- indoor on-ground training with rope, knots, naturals, and bolts info
- Discuss gear, weather, flooding, radon, and call-out procedures.
- Cave formations, life in caves.
Visit a small cave and discuss cave formations, flooding, route finding, and other information.
Day 2
Head to our second cave to discuss any matters of interest, putting into practice our hand lines, assisted line, when to use, Anchors, and traverses, and many more technique's
Prerequisites
Some previous caving experience is required to attend this workshop.
Have your own kit, please bring it, if not don't worry, we can hire you some for a tenner.
